Denver, CO, April 27th, 2024.

Sprinkles, glazed, Boston cream or jelly…National Donut Day brings The Salvation Army and LaMar’s together to bring some sugary comfort to those in need.

A tradition first started by the Salvation Army in Chicago in 1938, honoring members who first

gave out donuts to soldiers in WWI, is now recognized as a truly heartwarming endeavor for the modern age.

As partners of this national event, Both LaMar’s and The Salvation Army will utilize their

tremendous reach to bring smiles and feed veterans at the local VA hospital in Aurora. The campaign will live on social media and on both home pages to deliver surprises and offer much needed donation opportunities.

On June 3rd, the celebration will include a free donut for all costumers, plus donut lassies will

deliver treats to all wounded veterans as well as various local news outlets in the Denver/Aurora

community. Major Mike, an officer in the inter mountain division called this initiative “a tradition that

will keep on giving”.

For more information, to donate or to volunteer, visit The Salvation Army home page.

About The Salvation Army:

The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church, has been supporting those in need in His name without discrimination since 1865. More than 25 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. About 82 cents of every dollar raised is used to support those services in nearly 9,000 communities nationwide.
